In the past, I have talked a lot about skincare, my skin care specifically. I have shared products, tips, and tricks that worked for me. It doesn't matter if I'm using the best skin care items or eat the cleanest, breakouts still happen. I felt it was necessary for me to create this post to solely touch on the products that eight out of ten times work miracles on my skin. This doesn't mean that it works miracles on me every single time though. This post was also highly requested a while back (over a year ago, oops) on a day when I shared a Snapchat video of a rather large to be honest, blemish I had on my chin. I shared a step-by-step of the items that I swear by, and the next day I showed the end result of a pimple that had pretty much vanished.
Now I know that breakouts are everyone's worst nightmare unless you were blessed with perfect skin then I am very jealous! The products I'm going to share have worked very well for me, but I have to throw this out there, it doesn't mean it will work for you since everyone's skin is different. Alright, now that I got that quick disclaimer out of the way I won't make you guys wait any longer. Here is my how-to guide on how to get rid of a blemish.
One product I always recommend to anyone who struggles with acne is a treatment cleanser dedicated to acne prone skin. The cleanser that I was using at the time that really helped with my breakouts along with keeping my breakouts at bay was the Kate Somerville Eradicate Daily Cleanser Acne Treatment. If you read my Drunk Elephant Skin Care then you already know that I no longer use this cleanser but you can read more on that over on that post if you're interested. The Eradicate acne treatment contains sulfur which is great to draw out impurities from congested pores. When introducing powerful ingredients to your skin like this, it's best to gradually add it into your routine by using it once a day every other day. This way your skin can slowly adjust to it. The consistency of this cleanser was a soft whipped texture that felt so gently on the face. It's a powerful cleanser but also helped calm any redness on my face. I loved using every last bit of it because it honestly did help keep my breakouts to a minimum along with other great benefits; pore minimizing and reducing oil in the skin.
Alright, if you're a dedicated reader of mine then you have already seen me talk about this Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask multiple times on my blog. I have raved so many times how amazing and strong this mask is, and it's so cheap compared to other masks on the market. (Less than $10 at Whole Foods.) Depending on my mood and in the state my skin is in I like to apply this mask all over my face or as a spot treatment. This is one of those powder masks that you have to mix in with either water or apple cider vinegar. I use the apple cider vinegar and would suggest you use it also. Apple cider vinegar has great benefits to the skin on its own but it makes mixing in this mask much better than with water. When this mask begins to dry and harden you will feel your face pulsate. Don't worry it's nothing painful, but I find it to be really neat that I can actually feel it working. I usually leave this mask on anywhere from 15-20 minutes. Once I rinse it off my face is usually red but once again, no worries it's normal and it passes. Immediately after rinsing and patting my face dry I go in with a face oil. I try to use this mask at least once a week to make sure I rid my skin of impurities and dirt.
The Sunday Riley U.F.O. oil if by far my holy grail facial oil! At this point, I have been using it for over a year and I have also repurchased it. I was without it for a few weeks and I realized I couldn't be without it. I use this oil all kinds of ways. Every other day I use 3 drops in the morning, other times at night. I usually switch off with U.F.O. and my Drunk Elephant products. Whenever I notice a pimple starting to form I immediately use one drop and concentrate it in that specific spot. This usually helps prevent it from getting any bigger, on some occasions, it even has helped make it disappear. The U.F.O. oil was made for people who struggle with ance or anyone with a face really. It does such an incredible job ridding my skin of breakouts, it's a miracle in a bottle. A few friends of mine that I've suggested this to are always telling how much they too love it. I was never a fan of using it in the daytime since it is an oil and I have oily skin. I want to skip adding any excess oil that may ruin my makeup but I have realized that this oil doesn't mess with the wear of my makeup. It is a drying oil and looks great underneath products and you can even add a couple of drops to your foundation. I don't do that though, I simply add it to my SPF in the mornings.
Lastly, this is yet another product that has stuck with me and my skincare routine for years now also another product I have mentioned multiple times here on my blog. The Mario Badescu drying lotion is the best spot treatment I have ever used. This guy comes in a clear bottle with a liquid on the top half of the bottle and a pink powder at the very bottom. Don't shake the bottle! That is how you're supposed to use it. Grab a Q-tip and dip it all the way to the bottom, and carefully lift up. Then dap the solution on any break-outs you have and you can leave that on your skin overnight. This is yet another miracle in a bottle product! Even though this drying lotion doesn't always make a breakout disappear overnight, it has helped diminish the size of the blemish. I also like using this on spots where I see a pimple starting to rise up. Many times when I do this it makes the blemish go away or at least not get any bigger in size.
So there you have it, my step-by-step on how I get rid of all my blemishes. Have you used any of these products I mentioned? Also, please let me know if you decide to try out any of these products. I would love to know your thoughts.
I always struggle with blemishes,so thank you so much for sharing, this was much needed. My friend also recommended Mario Badescu drying lotion to me, so I will give it a try. :-)
