My Drunk Elephant Skin Care

For quite some time now I have been wanting to share an updated skincare routine since the last time I shared one was nearly two years ago. A lot has changed since then. I've tried multiple brands and products. And now, I'm very excited to finally share with you all my updated skincare routine.

In the last 6+ months, I found myself reevaluating my skincare routine and I wanted to change up the products I was using. I'm constantly seeking better products for my skin no matter what the reason may be. Earlier this year, I decided I wanted to finish using up all of the skincare products I had in my collection, and once I'd run out of them I would begin using a new line of products. With committing to a new brand of skincare I wanted to also dedicate myself to that one brand only, in order to acquire the best results, as many brands recommend.

So, what brand did I decide to commit to you may ask? From the title, you may already know that I chose to go with Drunk Elephant. It was a hard decision to choose one brand to only use products from but this was the brand I had been seeing everyone talk about. I kept hearing nothing but amazing things about their products and the wonders they did on peoples skin, not to mention how aesthetically pleasing their packaging is. None the less, I have been using DE for well over a month and a half now, and I can say confidently that I'm 100% happy with this routine along with the results I have gained on my skin. I'd like to also add that my skin never went through a purging stage when I began using these products.

If you'd like to find out more about my updated morning and nighttime skincare routine, then continue reading!
First things first, and let's begin with the steps I take in my morning routine.

To cleanse my face I switch off every other day between the Pekee Bar and the Juju Bar. I'll admit I was a bit hesitant on whether I was going to like these bars because, how much of a difference would they actually make to my skin. Let me just say that I'm impressed and don't think I can continue with my morning routine without them. I'm not sure which of the two I like more it would just depend on what you're looking for. What I can say is you won't go wrong with either.

The Pekee Bar is a very gentle cleansing bar that has a very rich and milky feeling to it once I lather it up on my hands. It doesn't dry out my skin and actually leaves it pretty moisturized. Pekee Bar will clarify while balancing your complexion, toning your skin, and helps promote moisture retention. My skin feels so soft after using this and I definitely see a difference in my complexion.

The Juju Bar is a completely different cleansing bar than Pekee. Juju is a multitasking exfoliating bar that was designed to effectively cleanse your skin while gently removing dead skin cells. This guy contains little tiny exfoliating beads, and since it's made with mud and bamboo powder it will dissolve excess oils including impurities. Juju bar will brighten the clarity of your skin and refine the texture. I'm so in love with this bar because of how gentle it is to exfoliate my skin that sometimes I will even use this cleanser at night.

Once my face has been cleansed every other day I use 1-2 pumps of the C-Firma Day Serum. C-Firma is a serum that is jam-packed with potent antioxidants. It has a "reservoir effect" which means it will remain active on your skin up to 72 hours even after you've washed your face. This serum will help with any uneven tones and texture you may have, dullness, loss of firmness, and elasticity. It has helped speed up the process of any post blemish mark I have on my skin. I make sure to always bring this down the neck and I also apply any excess product on the tops of my hands.

When using C-Firma I also add a pump of the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. This product probably isn't completely necessary to have but I love it. I have oily/combo skin and can tend to get random dry spots and B-Hydra helps eliminate that problem. It replenishes while giving your skin the hydration it needs throughout the day, 24 hours to be exact. It improves the texture and tone of the skin and of course eliminating dryness. Now when I use this I notice my makeup applying beautifully and I don't have any issues with makeup clinging to dry patches. B-Hydra is the glass of water my skin was earning for.

The moisturizer I use in the morning is the Protini Polypeptide Cream. Protini is pretty much magic in a tub, no joke. This guy does so many wonderful things to your skin. Protini helps the appearance of skin tone, texture, lines, wrinkles, and firmness. It will even reduce signs of sun damage. I love using this specifically in the morning because it isn't too thick to apply my makeup on top. It has such a lovely feeling and sinks into my skin immediately making my skin look alive.

As for sunscreen I own the Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30, wow that was a mouth full! However, I have yet to begin using it. I am still using my Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 and didn't want it to go to waste by not using it up. Once I use this bottle up I will begin using the Umbra Sheer.

And the last step in my morning skincare routine is eye cream and I use the C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. C-Tango contains just the right amount of moisture my under eyes need. Since using this eye cream I have noticed my under eyes looking radiant, more alive and full. C-Tango is the perfect solution for improving any sun damage, loss of firmness, fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity. It also contains eight peptides and five different forms of vitamin C. This is a good eye cream if you're looking to also prevent wrinkles and fine lines from appearing.
For my night time cleanser, I use the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. When I first used this cleanser months ago I was using it as my morning cleanser. Later I decided to switch it to nighttime since it claimed to also be a "makeup remover" and I want to get my face as clean as possible before bed. I use the Jelly cleanser side of my Clarisonic and at first, I couldn't decide if I liked it, or should I say I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was doing for my skin. Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser claims to remove all trace of makeup along with excess oils and pollution. I began to notice how incredibly soft and clean my skin felt especially in the morning once I wake up. My skin is always glowing. Tiffany, the creator of Drunk Elephant even said that if you use this cleanser at night you can skip cleansing your face in the morning because of how clean this leaves your skin!
(*Some nights I skip using the Jelly cleanser and I'll use the Juju bar.)

After cleansing, every other day I use the T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, and I absolutely love this stuff! Because of its 12% of AHA/BHA Framboos serum will refine dull skin along with uneven texture and uneven skin tone. This serum has helped with the texture of my skin specifically when having a breakout. It also has given so much radiance to my skin with it's resurfacing dull skin properties. Framboos has everything you need if you want a clearer looking skin, this is one product from Drunk Elephant that I highly recommend. Here's a little more you should know about this serum if you're not sold yet; it also helps with fine lines and wrinkles, will diminish the appearance of pores, clears away excess oils and any discoloration.

Every night I use a couple of drops of the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. I always thought all face oils worked about the same, leaving your skin with deep moisture and somewhat of a greasy mess. That is not the case with this Marula oil. This guy has a small difference in consistency compared to other oils and it absorbs incredibly quick into the skin. It leaves my skin feeling velvety soft and happily moisturized. This face oil will dramatically help rid you of any dryness you may have along with evening skin tone such as post acne marks. It contains antioxidants that combat environmental stressors and reverses the signs of aging. Like all the products I use for my night time routine, it also helps give my skin such radiance in the morning when I wake up, which is a huge plus! This Virgin Marula oil is also the purest marula oil on the market since it is made and untouched by any chemicals or fragrances.

To seal everything together I use the Lala Retro Whipped Cream. I enjoy using this moisturizer for night time since it is a more heavier moisturizer compared to Protini and it also releases long-lasting hydration. I love to soak my skin up with the most hydration overnight as I can and Lala Retro is the perfect product for those with dry skin, even those without dry skin. Lala Retro helps with the loss of firmness, elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles. It also fights signs of aging and is packed with omega acids. This will leave your skin feeling hydrated, soft and bright.

Lastly, I have been using a sample of the Shaba Complex Eye Serum. This potent eye serum contains black tea ferment and copper peptides that help support the appearance of firmer skin around the eyes. It will also help with slowing down any signs of aging. I believe the copper peptide in this is the ingredient that has also helped produce the growth in many peoples eyelashes. As much as I have been loving and enjoying this eye cream, once I run out of the sample I am going to also bring in my C-Tango Multivitamin eye cream to my night time routine. I don't really need two different eye creams in my skincare routine especially since one eye cream typically lasts me forever I don't want any product going to waste.
As for face masks, once a week I use the T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial. In my opinion, this face mask is the mother (or baby) of all face masks it's that incredible! Babyfacial will help with the overall clarity of your skin by lifting away build-up of dead skin cells. It contains 25% AHA and 2% BHA along with glycolic, tartaric, citric, lactic and salicylic acids. This mask will help resurface your skin and help with dull skin. Babyfacial is also the solution for fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and of course texture. You do not want to mix any other products that contain any AHA or BHA when using this mask, so I make sure to only use this on the day I'm not going to use my Framboos serum. Right after I rinse this off I immediately slather my skin with the Virgin Marula oil for best results as they recommend and to really ensure I'm giving back my skin some good moisture. My skin feels amazing every single time I use this.

Since committing to using only Drunk Elephant skincare products, I have been loving how my skin has been looking. My make up has never looked better and I have even reduced the amount of coverage I apply to my face. It's been a huge change compared to a lot of other products I used in the past. Even though I've been having amazing results with this new skincare routine, it doesn't mean I never break out. I do still get the occasional blemish whenever I eat more m&m's than I should, and I also have the standard hormonal breakout around the chin when my period rolls around. It's totally normal but I have noticed a major decrease in breakouts. Apart from that, my skin is at it's best and I am so grateful.

Do you use anything from Drunk Elephant? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the brand.

  2. I know you said once you finish the Shaba eye serum sample you are going to use the other one, which makes sense. Why have two serums? Which one would you recommend buying first? I really want to pick up a DE eye serum.

    1. They're both good but I have seen more results with using C-Tango one. I also love how makeup looks over top of it and never lets my concleaer look dry. I reccomend c-tango but maybe get samples of it and shaba before purcahsing. Thats what I did and decided to go with c-tango.
